Phase 1: Immediate first aid

Use what you have right now. Nothing to buy.

  1. Blot & isolate

Blot hard with a thick wad of kitchen roll β€” stand on it if it's carpet β€” until barely anything transfers. Don't rub.

  2. Pantry pre-treatment

    You need

1 part White Vinegar (distilled)+1 part cold water+Bicarbonate of Soda (Bicarb)

Bicarbonate of Soda (Bicarb): Not baking powder β€” that has added acid and starch.

    Method

Mix, then spray or sponge on until the spot is just damp through. Blot hard. Once nearly dry, sprinkle bicarbonate of soda over and hoover it up a few hours later.

  3. Final flush & wash

Rinse from the back with cold water, then wash on a gentle cycle. Dry flat or line-dry and check before ironing.

Phase 2: Deep restoration

If a faint shadow remains after the initial rinse, or for fabrics that cannot tolerate water agitation:

Residual ghost-ring or dry-clean-only fibre?

Normal washing often won't shift the last trace of a set-in stain. Treat it with a targeted spotter before it goes anywhere near tumble-dryer heat β€” heat locks in whatever is left.
