Do NOT scrub or wipe soft wax — it smears deeper into the weave. Let it harden first.
Phase 1: Immediate first aid

Blot & isolate
Let it harden fully — hold a bag of ice on it for 5 minutes. Then flake off as much as you can with a blunt knife or old card.
Pantry pre-treatment
You need
brown paper bag or kitchen roll+iron (low, no steam)
Method
Lay paper over the wax and press with the iron for a few seconds. Move to a clean patch of paper and repeat until no more wax transfers. Synthetics and wool: lowest setting only.
Final flush & wash
Rinse the treatment out from the back with cold water. Wash on the care-label setting, then air-dry and check in daylight before any tumble-drying — heat sets whatever is left.
Phase 2: Deep restoration
If a faint shadow remains after the initial rinse, or for fabrics that cannot tolerate water agitation:
Residual ghost-ring or dry-clean-only fibre?
Normal washing often won't shift the last trace of a set-in stain. Treat it with a targeted spotter before it goes anywhere near tumble-dryer heat — heat locks in whatever is left.
