Coffee & teaon wool & cashmere
Do NOT use hot water, rubbing or biological detergent β wool felts and shrinks, and enzymes eat the fibre.
Phase 1: Immediate first aid
Use what you have right now. Nothing to buy.
Blot & isolate
Blot straight away with a dry white cloth to pull the liquid out. Then flush from the back with cool water. On wool: pat, don't rub β friction starts felting.
Pantry pre-treatment
You need
5 ml Wool wash (e.g. Woolite) or gentle shampoo+250 ml cold water

Method
Mix gently. Dab on with a white cloth, then press dry with a fresh one. Repeat little and often β on delicate fibres, patience beats pressure.
Final flush & wash
Rinse in lukewarm water without agitating. Press the water out in a towel and dry flat, reshaping as you go. Don't tumble-dry.
Phase 2: Deep restoration
If a faint shadow remains after the initial rinse, or for fabrics that cannot tolerate water agitation:
Residual ghost-ring or dry-clean-only fibre?
Normal washing often won't shift the last trace of a set-in stain. Treat it with a targeted spotter before it goes anywhere near tumble-dryer heat β heat locks in whatever is left.

Tannin spotter for wine, coffee, tea and tomato β breaks down the brown-yellow ring that pantry methods leave.
Apply a few drops with a cotton bud, tamp gently, then flush as the label directs. Patch-test first.
